Thrust ball bearings
Depending on the shape of the race, they are classified as flat-race or self-aligning spherical-race types. They can withstand axial loads but cannot withstand radial loads.
Thrust ball bearings are available in both single-direction and double-direction types.

Single-direction thrust ball bearing consists of two rings, steel balls and a cage assembly, and is capable of withstanding axial loads in one direction.

Double-direction thrust ball bearings
Double-direction thrust ball bearing consists of three rings and two ball-and-cage assemblies. The shaft ring is sandwiched between the two ball-and-cage assemblies and is capable of withstanding axial loads in both directions.
